31-day sugar detox

One Day At a Time

The first day is always the easiest for me.  Gung-ho will power and a strong sense of “I got this!”  So, as I write this I am also hopeful that you survived your first day.  I was fortunate enough to only have woken up on Jan 1 tired (as I stayed up past my bedtime) and not hungover.  I like beer and wine.  A lot.  But, I am a-ok giving it up for a month.  In fact, I am psyched!

Considering I have partaken in sugar/alcohol detoxes for over 5 years, the preparation is not as difficult for me.  My meals and snacks for the day I didn’t have to put much effort into.  I was adamant that we spend our day being active and feeling good and thus we headed out for a few hours into the Park (Great Smoky Mountains) and proceeded to hike to waterfalls and enjoy the beautiful day.  That most certainly helped.  I’ll be honest, though, I don’t feel very well.  But, I am hoping over the next month that will change.   Day one.  Check.  On to Day 2.

I’ve listed my day of eating below and feel free to check out my The Foods to Eat Facebook Page (you can like it from the home page of thefoodstoeat.com) as I link my Instagram photos of a lot of my food with simple recipe instructions (@thefoodstoeat)

Breakast — egg scramble with leftover veggies.  No toast

Morning snack — 2 clementines and a banana

Lunch — slice of leftover homemade pizza (whole wheat crust, homemade tomato sauce without sugar, cheese, onions, peppers)

Afternoon Snack — 1/4 cup (1 oz) unsalted mix nuts

Dinner — Homemade Butternut Squash and Turnip Soup (interesting it was sweet but made without any added sugar)

Evening Snack — Tea, tea and more tea (the tea is saving me)

  1. Yahoo!!! We made it through our first day and on to day two!! It’s funny you said that about tea as I find that when I’m detoxing from sugar, tea is my go to drink. Something very soothing about a cup of tea. Ahhhhhhhhh! Keep on truck in’!😎
